Why can’t I take a Mod 1 or Mod 2 Motorbike Test in Reading?
3 Counties Motorcycle Training provide a full range of motorbike training from CBT, to DAS, to post-test training. Based in the south of Reading at Arborfield, Reading is a great place to learn to ride a motorbike. When it comes to the full Mod 1 and Mod 2 motorbike tests to gain your full licence students often ask why can’t I take a Mod 1 or Mod 2 Motorbike Test in Reading?
Prior to 2009 the motorcycle test for a full licence was a single event road based test. It included an emergency stop and U-turn under road conditions. Big changes to the DVSA motorbike test came back in 2009 when the test split into two parts; A Mod 1 test that focuses on motorcycle control through a number of handling exercises (including the emergency stop and U-turn) and is conducted at DVSA test centres, and the Mod 2 test – the road ride examination.
So why can’t I take a Mod 1 or Mod 2 Motorbike Test in Reading? To accommodate the Mod 1 exercises large sites were needed so the DVSA consolidated many regional driving test centres into a fewer number of Multi-Purpose Test Centres. The old Bennet’s Road motorcycle test centre in Reading closed and so students now do their Mod 1 and Mod 2 motorcycle tests in either Farnborough, Uxbridge, Oxford, or Newbury.
3 Counties Motorcycle Training are well positioned to cover all these test areas in Farnborough, Uxbridge, Oxford, or Newbury when it’s time for your Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests. We pre-book the actual tests (also including a theory test and a CBT if required ) as part of your training package. However, we stress that when you train with 3CMT you will be capable of riding a bike anywhere by reading the road, any signs, lane markings and planning well, as any good rider should. We don’t just flog round the typical test routes – that approach can leave you disadvantaged to ride anywhere that is unfamiliar to you.
